(chewing pills does make them work a little faster, since the pill is allready broken down and mixed in liquid when it gets to your belly, the worst part is having the lovely taste of what ever pill lingering since its hard to get it all out of your teeth if you mash down on them hard...)
Chewing or taking large doses of acetaminophen is a bad idea. Of all the common pain relievers (aspirin, ibuprofen), acetaminophen has the smallest margin between and effective dose and a harmful dose, and according to Wikipedia acetaminophen overdosing is the most common cause of liver failure in the developed world. I would stick to enteric aspirin or ibuprofen. I think both of those are better as anti-inflammatories, so if your problem is muscle soreness etc. they are more effective as well.
It was for a head buzz... I rarely use acetaminphen otherwise. It's not like I can't wait the 15 minutes for it to kick in normally! Recently I've seen pull chewing suggestions for other things and I was just wondering if it might 'skip to the honeymoon' if you know what I mean.
I'm pretty sure the reason they say not to crush is because the pills will have sharp edges that could tear or scrape the lining of your throat causing additional irritation. I take pills some days that crack in half as I take them out of the packaging. Still take them with no liquid and haven't had any issues.

No. that screws with the rate of absorbtion which can lead to liver damage if done frequently.
