East Coast Mountain Biking Hosts The Woolastook 5
On June 3, 2007 East Coast Mountain Biking will host their first event in New Brunswick. The Woolastook 5 will see participants complete as many laps of the course as possible over a period of five hours. The last lap can go overtime as long as it begins before the five hour cut off. There will be three categories:Solo Male, Solo Female and a Team Category. In the Team Category, each racer on the team must complete at least one lap of the course
Woolastook Park is located approximately 20 km from Fredericton along the old Trans Canada Highway. Woolastook is no stranger to cross country mountain biking - it is the site of an annual XC race, and recently it has been host to many adventure races as well.
The course will be approximately 8 km long, with one feeding station. There will be a mass start, although depending on numbers the Solo Racers may begin a few minutes before the Team Racers. The race is being sanctioned by Velo NB, however racers without a license are welcome to participate as Citizens. They will race the same course as licensed racers.
Registration fees are $25 per racer on or before May 25th, and $30 thereafter. Race day registrations will be accepted. Check in / Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and will continue until 9:00 a.m. The race begins at 10:00 a.m. and finishes at 3:00 p.m. Awards will be presented at 3:45 p.m. Contact Andrew Lowery at o9man@ecmtb.com, 506-363-8096 or www.ecmtb.com.
