Gorefest 2006
Well, July is here and this year it brings back an old favorite for mountain bikers of all disciplines. Sportwheels is proud to resurrect a maritime mtb favorite by bringing you Gorefest 06 on July 29 and 30th featuring an 8 hour relay on Sunday.
This is a unique event that brings together the mountain bike community like no other. No matter what you ride you will not be alone. If it's got two wheels and a set of pedals- bring it!
Don't forget there won't be a one day license fee charged this year. The entry fee is the only cost for all riders.
This year's course has been tweaked to provide more singletrack and less gravel road, but remains one of the best loops in the region. This is a two day event and everyone is encouraged to come up on Saturday and take in all the fun. The course will be open for inspection at noon on Saturday and riding during the day as well other activities which will include: an I.M.B.A trail maintenance
seminar and a timed DH run behind the staging area with cash prizes.
Red Bull and Gatorade will be providing drinks all weekend long.
It's not a festival with out a night crit (clothing optional ). The real fun will start when the sun goes down as some teams will practice their own special way of carbo loading.
Sitting on top of the hill around a roaring bonfire with both old and new friends is as much a part of the Gore experience as the race itself. Ask around, with hundreds of past participants it shouldn't be hard to find someone with personal experience to tell you how much fun this event is if you have not been involved before.
**** Don't forget the BNS points race held on the same course july
16th. the perfect pre-ride.****
