Colin Gash - May you rest in peace...

It is with the utmost sadness that I am posting this thread. Colin Gash, only 25 years old was taken from us today. Colin suffered a brain aneurysm on Tuesday, July 27, 2004. This left him unconscious until his ever so unfortunate death today, July 29, 2004.

Colin was a dear friend of mine. He worked at The Bike People store as a technician and that's where we met. He taught me a lot about life in general. To live life to the fullest and hold nothing back.

Colin excelled in everything he did - especially biking. From schooling people in XC races and Bikercross, to winning Provincials in DH more than once, he was a phenomenon. I remember day after day of pushing our big DH bikes up Martock and chasing down. I remember screaming "I'm gonna get you Gash!!" as we screamed down the trails. Such a blessing to have known someone so gifted. His personality touched many people.

Graduating July 23, 2004 from Architecture school, he was at the top of his class. His family is so proud of him. He was such an easy person to look up to and be friends with.

Krista, his girlfriend, and friend of ours has asked me to post this thread in his memory. We are all left breathless. He will be deeply missed.

Tomorrow (July 30) at TUNS on Spring Garden Road opposite the library at 8:30pm, there will be a gathering of all his friends.

Family, friends from school, high school as well as the bike community. All people who want to attend are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please tell your friends. At times like this, there is nothing better than support. Please bring any pictures or written stories you may have.

We will be having a memorial ride on Sunday morning @ 10:30 am Aug 1 @ Whopper Drop in Bayers Lake Industrial Park by Burger King. Please come. Ride will be light paced and social.

The funeral will be held on Monday August 2, 2004 at Mattadal Funeral Home on Portland Street, Dartmouth. Please call 461-0700 for particulars. Once again, all are welcome and encouraged to attend.
